The second wave of coronavirus has continued to increase in Sokoto as the state again on Wednesday recorded 34 new positive cases of the virus.
According to a statement released on the official Twitter handle of the state ministry of health and monitored by our correspondent in Sokoto, twenty patients were discharged from the isolation centres in the state on Wednesday.
Also, the state on same Wednesday recorded two deaths from the isolation centres as a result of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, with the latest development, the state now has a total number of 170, which is the highest ever scattered across the various isolation centres in the state.
The total number of positive cases recorded in the state since the first index case now stands at 593, out of which 399 of them have been successfully discharged and reunite with their families.
Also, the total number of test carried out so far in the state has moved to 13,728, from which 13,135 of the test returned negative with another 308 pending as at the time of writing this report.
Meanwhile, with two new deaths recorded on Wednesday, the total number of casualties related to coronavirus in the state now stands at 22.
In his statement, the state chairman of the state tasks force against COVID-19, Dr Muhammed Ali Inname, urged residents of the state to always abide by the laid down protocols of the health experts.
Inname who is also the state Commissioner for health said the state government is doing everything humanly possible to curtail the spread of the virus in the state.
