Covid-19 protocols: Lagos Police charge Victoria’s club owner to court, arrest 143 clubbers

The Lagos State Police Command has charged the owner of Club Victoria’s to court for violating COVID-19 protocols and vowed to make more violators face the wrought of the law.
The 42-year-old Mr Owede Bruno was charged on four count charge yesterday according to the provisons of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, at Ebute Metta Magistrate Court .
In a statement issued by Lagos State Police Spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and made available to Nigerian NewsDirect.
“Earlier The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had led a team of policemen to raid some clubs on Saturday at around 1.30am, including Club Victoria’s, where one hundred and forty three clubbers and strippers were arrested and thirty-four cars impounded. The suspects were immediately charged to court same day.
“ The Police boss reiterates the command’s readiness to consistently go after violators of COVID-19 protocols including club owners who remain recalcitrant.
“He further warns the general public against the violation and/or disregard for the preventive measures/protocols being put in place by the government to halt the spread of the pandemic in the state.
“He promised to intensify the enforcement of laws in Lagos State and COVID-19 protocols, while assuring Lagosians that policing the state will be all-inclusive, people-oriented and in accordance with best international policing standards.”
