The Governor, State of Osun Alh. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has appealed to Islamic clerics in the state to institute measures that would assist the government’s initiative on Covid-19 fight.
The governor disclosed this on Friday during the Jumat service held at Ansarudeen Central Mosque Sabo, Osogbo.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, Governor Oyetola said necessary precautions should be taken by all sundry to avoid the hazardous effect of the pandemic in the state.
“It’s should be well noted that this advocacy is beyond government’s effort, that’s why we are intensifying effort in curbing the spread of the dreaded disease.
“Having realized religion institution as a credible platform that can assist the government in sensitization process, it has become a matter of duty for all the religious leaders to take charge by reawakening the consciousness of the people to Covid-19 resurgence.
He however admonished Muslim faithfuls to be more conscious alive by obeying all the laid down protocols to avert community transmission.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Central Mosque, Alh. Yunus Imogbemi commended the government’s initiative in controlling the spread of the virus, while corroborating Governor’s position on the need to observe the safety precautions at all time.
He, however, promised on behalf of the Muslim community to complement government’s campaign within their reach to reduce the spread of the disease.
