COVID-19: Osun Govt to vaccinate residents as FG delivers Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccines

Osun State Government has on Tuesday evening received Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

The vaccine arrived at Akure Airport where the delegated medical team from Osun received them at about 7.11 pm.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, Special Adviser to Governor on Public  Health, Pharmacist Siji Olamiju and the Chairman, Osun Primary Health Care Development Board, Hon Leke Ogunsola led the medical team on behalf of the state government.

Meanwhile, in anticipation of the vaccine, the State Government had prepared its Central Cooling Store and trained about 300 health workers to drive the vaccination exercise across the state.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Engagement, Funke Egbemode, she maintained that the government is ready to preserve and administer the vaccines.

The government, according to her had “trained about 300 health workers for the Vaccination exercise and installed storage facilities (cold chain) across the 332 wards in the State.”

Egbemode said the government would soon commence the vaccination in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

She advised citizens to shun the misinformation making the rounds about the vaccines, adding that the vaccines have been scientifically tested and certified fit for human use by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
