COVID-19: Osun govt intensifies caution

The Osun State government has warned its citizens about the pandemic, noting that it is no time to let down their guard.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the government enjoined its citizens to continue to adhere strictly to safety guidelines as Osun and Nigeria in general battle the second wave of the pandemic.

The statement reads in part, “The government wishes to reiterate that citizens should not let down their guard just yet, but take personal responsibilities for their safety. COVID-19 is real, and its second wave is gaining traction at an alarming rate.

“Nigeria hit a new daily record on Wednesday, and Osun’s share of the new cases was about 1.4 percent. Also, other states that bother Osun recorded new cases.

“The earlier citizens realise that Osun is not out of the woods yet, the better for our individual and collective safety.

“The precautions are not burdensome – observe social distancing; avoid crowded places; wash your hands regularly with soap and water; disinfect your hands and surfaces with sanitizers and disinfectants; and wear your nose masks and face shield when out of home.

“Let us desist from actions that sabotage the efforts of the government and put the collective safety of Osun people in jeopardy.”
