COVID-19: NOA commences re-enforcement sensitisation campaign in Plateau
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commenced a re-enforcement sensitisation campaign on the adherence to the safety protocols against COVID-19 in the three senatorial zones in Plateau.
The Director-General of the agency, Dr Garba Abari, launched the exercise in Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
Abari, who was represented by the Plateau State Director of NOA , Mr Nanyak Zinkat, said the launching of the re-enforcement sensitisation campaign was imperative due to the rise in cases of the disease.
He said that the continuous campaign was being embarked upon against the increase in COVID-19 infections in the country due to low compliance by citizens to the safety protocols.
He said that Lagos and Plateau states had been chosen in the South and the North respectively, for the launching of the exercise based on the fact that the two states were reported to have high incidences of the infections in spite of the high level of publicity by the government and various development agencies.
The director-general said the sensitisation campaign was a clarion call to all stakeholders to stop the spread of the virus by appealing to other members of their communities to adhere to the safety protocols.
He said that the objective of the exercise was to re-sensitise the stakeholders on the need for them to relay the message of adherence to safety protocols as the virus was not a myth as alleged, but that it is real.
He stated that the vaccine against COVID-19 that was expected to be administered to the public would be proved to be safe by the relevant agencies and organisations.
Abari appealed to the traditional rulers and the relevant stakeholders to take the message to their people.
In his response, the Chairman of Bassa Local Government, Mr Chindo Gona, assured the director-general that the message would be relayed to the people of the area.
