COVID-19: Masari pledges vaccination for corps members in Katsina
Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State, on Saturday, pledged to ensure that all the corps members serving in the state were vaccinated against COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor made the pledge when the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Katsina.
In a statement issued by Director of Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, the governor assured that his administration would continue to sustain its support to the scheme.
He directed the NYSC secretariat in the state to liaise with the Ministry of Health on the planning and execution of the exercise.
“My administration will continue to sustain the tempo of its support for the scheme,” he said.
Earlier, Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the governor for the assistance and cooperation which the scheme had received from the state government so far.
The NYSC director-general listed the assistance to include the renovation of several blocks of hostels and construction of a skill acquisition centre at the NYSC camp, Katsina.
“The state government also led rescue efforts when some corps members were involved in a road accident in 2019,” he recalled.
Ibrahim said that the scheme would remain committed to strengthening the cordial relationship between it and the state government.
