COVID-19: Lagos CP warns hoteliers against violation of protocols, vows to shut down erring hotels

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu has warned  Hoteliers across the state against gross  violation of COVID-19 protocols, harbouring  criminals, as government will not hesitate to lock up such erring hotel.

In a statement by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made available to Nigerian NewsDirect.

The Police boss gave the  stern warning yesterday, during a meeting on safety of the state with all hoteliers in Lagos State at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa, Ikeja.

Odumosu charged the Hotlier to brace up to challenge of discharging thier duties in line with the professional ethics of the job, as the command is well abreast of misconduct leading to unnatural death and criminal activities in thier industry.

“He vowed to close down any hotel caught in the web of gross violation of COVID-19 protocols, aiding and abetting criminals, negligence leading to the deaths of customers.

“He pointed out that the command has recorded cases of drowning and sudden and unnatural death in some hotels as a result of negligence on the part of the hotel owners and managers. He  condemed this and admonished them to brace up and do the needful to assist the police in providing adequate security for lives and property of Lagosians.”

Also the DCP Kontangora, who was  in company of the Commissioner of Police Hakkem Odumosu,  hinted the hotlier about the neccessary guidelines they are  expected to adhere with in respect of thier professional conduct  and urged them to adjust as neccessary.

“In addition, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Lagos State, DCP Ahmed Kontangora, who accompanied the police boss, rolled out some recorded cases of drowning, Sudden and Unnatural death and other crimes committed in some hotels across the state.

“He listed some guidelines with which they are expected to operate and urged them to adjust or else be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

In response, the President of the Lagos Hoteliers Association Prince Adekunle Akilo, appreciated the Police for putting up the meeting and promised  unequivocally adjustments,  respect the laws of Lagos State and  assistance in Policing Lagos State effectively.
