COVID-19: Galaxy Backbone receives Nigerian NewsDirect IT Company of the Decade Award

Galaxy Backbone Limited has been awarded with the Information Technology (IT) Company of the Decade, Enabling the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria by the Nigerian NewsDirect Newspaper.This follows its proactive  roles in taking Nigerian Economy out of recession.

The Managing Director/CEO Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. Mohammad Abubakar pledged commitment to do more in impacting the information technology sector by sustaining investment in research and development ( R&D)

Prof. Abubakar stated this when the Managing Director/Publisher Dr Samuel Ibiyemi  led top Management of Nigerian NewsDirect Newspaper  on a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of Galaxy Backbone Limited in Abuja on Thursday for  award presentation.

In his speech during the award presentation, Dr Ibiyemi said the recognition is predicated on the company’s significant role in sustaining the Nigerian Economy particularly during the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We want to thank you for your great contribution towards the sustenance of the economy in the last 10 years and  during COVID-19 lockdown. We want to salute the courage of Galaxy Backbone in deepening innovation and  determination to increase infrastructural investment.”

He highlighted that the award is also necessary due to the company’s unmatched customer service loyalty stance.

According to him, “Any company that fails to place customers first will lose greater percentage of market share. Galaxy Backbone is one of the few companies that consider customers first. Your response rate to the needs of customer has been exceptional.”

Ibiyemi emphasized that it will be unfair not to recognise the sacrifice of time and resources made by Galaxy Backbone  for leading an active and proactive management staff to attain the giant feat in the IT sector.

He said, “Going by the name, Galaxy Backbone, your company  is truly the backbone of the economy,” while urging the company to do more in making Nigeria achieve double digit growth.

In his acceptance remarks, the Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, Prof Abubakar Muhammad expressed his appreciation, stating that the award will spur the Management and staff of the company to do more for the country.

“We are truly grateful for the award. I will use this opportunity to tell you that this is really an encouragement  to do our best compared with what we have done so far in trying to move forward the organisation. We are going to rededicate ourselves to do much better.

“Nigerian NewsDirect has become a household name for us here, we have been following through the quality of reportage put in place. Also the fact that you have touched almost everywhere especially the IT sector, we will continue to work with you to see that we do what needs to be done for the Country.

“We have been doing it all together with all staff of Galaxy BackBone to ensure that the company deliver excellent services to customers.”

Meanwhile in his vote of thanks, the Executive Director, Corporate Services,  Mr Owiocho Ogoji  lauded Nigerian NewsDirect for finding Galaxy Backbone worthy of the award.

In his words, “The challenges of COVID-19 and the protocol that came with it, globally everyone looked unto IT. For us, it was an innovation, within three weeks of the pandemic, we were able to move Government back to work.”

He said innovation is what Galaxy Backbone stands for, saying that one of  the core values of the company is innovation. He further explained that as a result of the company’s passion for innovation, the Managing Director created a full pledged department on Innovation and Skills Development.
