COVID-19: FG extends work-from-home for civil servants till month end

The Federal Government has extended its work-from-home directive to civil servants on Salary Grade Level 12 and below to the end of April.

The directive was meant to curtail further spread of COVID-19.

The extension was contained in circular by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, dated April 7, 2021 and marked HCSF/3065/Vol.1/84.

The circular titled ‘Extension of work-from-home for GL 12 and below’ reads: “It will be recalled that Circular No.: HCSF/3065/Vol.1/83 dated March 3, 2021 directed all officers on Salary Grade Level 12 and below to continue working from home till the end of March, 2021.

“The directive was in line with measures put in place by the Federal Government to sustain the downward trend of reported cases of COVID-19 in the country.

“Further to that directive and following the advice of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, especially with regard to maintaining the reduction of reported cases, the earlier work-from-home directive is hereby extended till the end of April, 2021.

“All officers are reminded to adhere to other preventive measures prescribed in previous relevant circulars which are in force.

“Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers are enjoined to bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all concerned and ensure strict compliance,” it read.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has designated four centres for the vaccination of federal civil servants in Abuja against COVID-19.

The Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Dr Evelyn Ngige, disclosed this in a circular dated April 8, 2021.

Ngige listed the vaccination centres as the Federal Staff Clinic, Block C, Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase Il (for MDAs in Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, III and environs); Federal Medical Centre, Jabi or General Hospital Maitama (for MDAS in Mabushi and environs); and Area 2 Health Centre (for MDAs in the Old Federal Secretariat, Area 1, Garki).

The circular read in part, “l am directed to inform you that the Federal Government has made provision for COVID-19 vaccination for federal civil servants, through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.

“Accordingly, all federal civil servants who are 50 years and above are advised to avail themselves of the opportunity of this first phase of COVID-19 vaccination.

“The vaccination exercise kicked off on April 7, 2021 and will end on April 13, 2021.”

Ngige said the civil servants would be required to present their Staff ID Cards/Payslips within the last three months as means of identification.
