Court sentences man to 4 days community service for damaging house window

A Magistrate Court in Ota, Ogun State has  sentenced a  22-year-old man, Sunday Ifaniyi, for damaging a house window, to four days community service.

The convict will carry out the punishment at the Sango-Ota Police area Command.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi, held that the police had proved the case beyond reasonable doubts.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp E. O. A. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Feb.14 at about 12.45 a.m. at Zone 2, Ayayi Egan area, Iju Ota.

He said that the convict caused N15,000 damage to the window while attempting to break into the house of the complainant,  Odole Oluwajuwon, with the intention to steal.

The prosecutor said that the convict was apprehended by members of a  vigilante group.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 451 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
