Court remands mason for allegedly absconding with client’s money

A Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Friday ordered that a 33- year-old mason, Chiwendu Enoch, who allegedly absconded with his client’s N991,000

The police charged Enoch, who resides in Ikuwa Zuba, FCT, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The judge, Gambo Garba adjourned the matter until March 17 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Ogunsheye Taiwo, who lives in Kuje, FCT, reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station, Abuja on Dec.30 2020.

Ogada said that on Nov. 9 2020, Taiwo gave the defendant contract to construct a green house for him.

He said that the defendant charged Taiwo N1.1 million for the construction of the said house and he paid N 991, 000 as part payment.

Ogadad said that the defendant collected the money and intentionally refused to do the job and dubiously converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecution told the court that the defendant absconded.

Ogada said that during police investigation, the defendant admitted to committing the offence.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.
