Court remands man over alleged theft of iPhone 11

A 32-year-old man, Yisau Ojo, has been remanded by an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly robbing a woman of iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Ojo, who was arraigned on a count charge bordering on armed robbery, was remanded on Monday.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oluseye Akinola, informed the court that Ojo, on Oct. 4, at 8:30 p.m. at Ikolaba area of Ibadan, armed himself with a cutlass and other dangerous weapons and attacked one Aishat Ajibike.

Sgt. Akinola said the defendant used the cutlass to dispossess Ajibike of an iPhone 11 Pro Max valued at N390, 000.

He added that the offence contravened Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act of 2004.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola, did not take the defendant’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction.

Giwa-Babalola ordered that he should be kept at Abolongo Custodial Centre in Oyo Town.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until February 14, 2021 for mention.
