A Kano Sharia Court in Fagge on Wednesday ordered that 24-year old Abubakar Yusuf be remanded in a correctional centre, for allegedly stealing a Zawani android phone valued at N90,000.
The defendant, who resides at Sheka Gabas, Kano, was facing a two-count charge of criminal house trespass and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, ordered the remand of the accused in a correctional centre, and adjourned the matter until June 13 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Mr. Abdul Wada, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 13 at Sheka Karshen Kwalta Quarters, Kano.
He alleged that on the same date at 5:00 p.m., the accused criminally trespassed into one Yusuf Usman’s house, and stole the android phone.
Wada noted that the offence contravened Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
