Court remands man for allegedly stealing Gold chain

A Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered that a 25-year-old man, Abubakar Zilkifilu  be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing a gold chain worth N24,500.

The police charged Zilkifilu,  of behind Fadama Hotel Arab Road, Kubwa Abuja, with criminal force, Assault and theft.

The judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman, ordered that the defendant should be kept in Suleja correctional centre  until Feb.14 when the facts of the case would be reviewed.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant,  Martha Evans of Kubwa Abuja, reported the case at the Byazhin Police Station on Jan. 24.

Ogada told the court that on the same date the defendant accosted the complainant on the way and attacked her with stone for no reason.

He said the defendant collected the complainant’s Gold chain worth N24 500,  cell phone valued N65,000,  power bill valued N13,000 and cash 40,000  and ran away.

He said the defendant was later arrested and handed over to the police for investigation.

The prosecutor said that the offence  contravention of sections 265 and 287 of the Penal Code
