Court remands man for allegedly stealing catfish

A 27-year-old man, Seun Fisayo has been remanded by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing catfish worth N1million.

The accused person committed the offence on December 9, around 2:20 pm at No 9, Irepodun Mokuro Line 3 in Ile-Ife.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person stole 350 catfish, worth N1 million property of Mr Feyemi Nicholas.

The offence committed contravened the provisions of Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person who was charged with theft pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.

The defense counsel, M.A Adeyemi prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, promising not to jump bail if granted.

In his ruling, Magistrate Olusola Aluko denied the bail application and remanded the accused person at the Ile-Ife Correctional centre.

He directed the defense counsel to file a written bail application for consideration.

The case was adjourned till January 27 pending bail application.
