A 51-year-old man, John Agbetonzo, who pleaded guilty to stealing a car, was on Tuesday remanded in prison on the orders of a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Agbetonzo of No 25, Animashaun St., Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos, pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 20, at No 2, Ososanya Close, Off Ilamoye St., Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan said Agbetonzo and one other person, who posed as an automobile salesperson, converted to their personal use, the money realised from selling a Honda Accord, property of Adegoke Adeshina.
He submitted that Adeshina, the complainant, reported the matter at the station, when Agbetonzo kept giving excuses for not returning his car.
The offences, Ekhueorohan said, violated sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs. M. I. Dan-Oni, ordered that Agbetonzo , be kept in Ikoyi Prisons, until June 9, for facts and sentence.
