A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 28-year-old Usman Gambari, for allegedly possessing a locally-made pistol.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, ordered that the defendant should be remanded pending advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
The defendant, who resides at Rigasa Area of Kaduna, is charged with illegal possession of firearm.
The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, said that Gambari committed the offence on Jan. 13 in Kaduna.
Leo alleged that policemen on patrol stopped the defendant at 10.00 p.m. and found the pistol on him during a search.
He said that the suspect could not give a satisfactory account on how he got the weapon.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 298 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
