Court remands four over alleged armed robbery

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Thursday, remanded four men who allegedly robbed with arms.

The defendants are Enos Noah, 20; Noah Shadrack, 27; Wasiu Opeyemi, 37; and Femi Olubunmi, 34.

The defendants, whose residential addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs I. O. Osho, did not take the plea of the defendants for lack of jurisdiction.

She directed the police to send the case file to the State Director of public prosecutions for advice.

The Magistrate adjourned the case until Sept. 15, for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on June 18, at 10. 30 p.m, at Iluju in Ogbomoso.

She alleged that the defendants, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, robbed their victims of phones, money and other property.

Adedosu alleged that the defendants robbed Messrs Peter Opeyemi, Yusuf Folorunsho and Taiwo Atanda of iPhones worth N650, 000, a gold necklace, a wristwatch, clothes and N214, 000, among other valuables.

She said that the offences contravened Sections 6b and 1(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act of 2004.
