Court remands four for breaking into Patience Jonathan’s house in Port Harcourt

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday remanded four suspected criminals at the Port Harcourt Correctional Center on five counts of conspiracy, armed robbery and attempted murder.

According to the charges read out in court, Praise Gelson, Tamunoala Alatoru, Usman Garba And Christian Mbaeri were alleged to have, on the 21st of September, 2022, broken into the house of former First Lady Dame Patience Goodluck-Jonathan within the Old GRA in Port Harcourt to steal valuables worth millions of Naira.

The suspects, after listening to the charges read out to them in court, pleaded not guilty to the offences.

Dimabo Karibo, who is counsel representing the second defendant, Tamunoala Alatoru, applied for bail application for his client, which was opposed by the prosecution Counsel O.M Umana who informed the court that he was not served the bail application.

The presiding judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, after listening to the arguments by the counsels, promised to give speedy and fair trial on the case following the congestion of the court.

Justice Enebeli, before adjourning till the 4th, 6th, 8th and 18th of November 2022 for hearing, directed that the suspects be remanded at Port Harcourt Correctional Center.
