Court remands 4 for stealing handsets worth N240,000

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Lagos, on Thursday remanded four persons in a correctional centre for pleading guilty to stealing three cell phones valued N240,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Daodu adjourned the matter until Jan. 10, for their sentence.

Abdulkarim Sanni, 19, Mohammed Sanni, 20, Aliu Sulaiman, 19 and Abdul Jubril 12, are being tried for criminal conspiracy and stealing.

The defendants reside at Mile 12 in Kosefe Local Government area of Lagos State.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Bassey told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Nov. 21 at Mile 12 market.

He said that one Usman Salusi reported the matter at the Mile 12 Police Station.

Bassey told the court that on the same date, about 3.30p.m, the defendants trespassed into Salusi’s room and stole the three handsets.

He said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
