Justice Peter Kekemeke of an FCT High Court, Nyanya, on Tuesday, remanded a 38-year-old man, Benjamin Nongu, charged with alleged robbery.
Kekemeke ordered the defendant to be remanded in a correctional centre after Nongu’s no-guilty plea, with no bail application also served.
He, thereafter, fixed April 13, for hearing of the matter.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, S. I. Nwafoaku, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 7, 2020 at Paradise Estate, Life Camp, Abuja.
He said that the defendant conspired with one Lugard Kure, now at large, to rob one Celina and her nephew, Rukeuwe Awaritefe, of their personal belongings.
Nwafoaku said that the items made away with included one iPhone, valued at N540,000, one Samsung phone, valued at N200,000 and a perfume, valued at N60,000.
Others were two wrist watches, valued at $850, 000 (N323 million) and N100,000, 300 dollar and N10,000 cash, Techno Camon 11, valued at N63,000, HP laptop model 250, valued at N100, 000 and an Itel cell phone, valued at N3,500.
According to the prosecutor, the offence is contrary to Section 6 (b) and punishable under Section 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, 2004.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
