Court remands 23-year-old for alleged armed robbery, murder

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Thursday, ordered that one Lamidi Gbolahan, 23, should be remanded for alleged armed robbery and murder.
Gbolahan, whose residential address was not provided, is charged with conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
She ordered that the defendant should be kept in a correctional centre pending the advice.
She adjourned the case until Jan. 26 for mention.
The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, had told the court that Gbolahan committed the offences on Nov. 25 about 12. 40 a.m. at Iyana Agbala area of Ibadan.
Amusan alleged that the defendant and others at large, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, attacked one Mr Wasiu Aremu.
He alleged that Gbolahan dispossessed Aremu of his phone worth N80, 000 and cash of N50, 000.
Amusan also alleged that the defendant unlawfully caused the death of one Mr Toheeb Olalere.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 6(B) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, 2004, and Section 319(1) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
