Court remands 20-year-old apprentice for alleged murder

An Akure Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday remanded a  20-year-old apprentice, Josiah Godwin, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, Akure, for allegedly killing his master, Mr. Saviour Joseph.

Godwin, whose house address was not provided, is standing trial for alleged conspiracy and murder.

The Magistrate, Mr. Idowu Mayowa, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case until March 17 for receipt of legal advice.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Folasade Adeyemi had applied for the remand of the defendant, pending the advice of the State Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP).

He told the court that the defendant killed his employer, Joseph and dumped the body in a well in Imafon Community in Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

Adeyemi said that the offences contravened Section 269 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

Defence counsel, Mr. Friday Adeoye, did not object to the prosecution’s application for remand.
