Court case: Ogun Ex- Deputy governor, Adesegun says no cause for alarm

Mr Taiwo Oduala, an aide to a former Ogun State Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, has said that there is no cause for alarm over the ongoing legal action against him (Adesegun) at a Lagos Magistrate’s Court.

It had earlier reported how Adesegun was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly being in possession of a Certificate of Occupancy belonging to a retiree, one Mr Babatunde Oderinde.

The former Deputy Governor was said to have been charged with four counts of conspiracy, concealing deeds, forcible entry and forcible possession.

He had, however, pleaded not guilty and was subsequently granted bail.

But speaking with our correspondent on the matter, Oduala disclosed that “there is really nothing so strange over this matter because at one point or the other in the life a man, one may have to stand up squarely to defend what belongs to him in the court of law and that is exactly what Prince Segun Adesegun is doing now before the Ikeja Magistrate Court

Oduala explained that what really happened are before the court and truth will eventually prevail.

Oduala said, “I am even aware that this land issue started in 2018 when the said Oderinde dragged Prince Adesegun before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The aide added: “I am also aware that by the virtue of the petition of Prince Segun Adesegun, the matter is currently receiving attention from The Langrabbers under the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State. The former Deputy Governor had also instituted N100m damages suit against NDIC and Oderinde before the Lagos State High Court over same matter”.

Oduala said the need for all of this clarification becomes imperative due to series of calls and concerns from far and near since the news of the Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting filtered into the public.

Oduala, however, called for calm among the supporters and associates of the former Deputy Governor, stressing that Prince Segun Adesegun as a former student unionist and progressive politician abhors injustice and will never do anything to tarnish his hard earned reputation.
