The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has inducted 36 new qualified graduates at the 3rd Edo State University Uzairue induction and oath taking ceremony.

Performing the induction and oath taking on the 2022/2023 newly qualified graduates of the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), the Registrar/CEO of the Council, Dr Tosan Erhabor, said the new graduates were now certified as medical laboratory scientist and qualified to work in any health facility in the country.

Dr. Erhabor who was represented by Uchunm Gregory, Director Scientist Regulations and Discipline, commended the university for the giant strides recorded so far in the MLS department and the cordial relationship between the institution and the council.

While congratulating the MLS graduating students, he advised them to show respect for their senior professional colleagues, even if it is just a year.

Dr Erhabor also urged them to learn about the inter-professional collaboration with other health personnel, saying medical service requires team work to achieve results, the patient being the focus.

“What do you do to ensure that your patient gets up, whether as a lab scientist, doctor or nurse, it doesn’t take anything from you, just pass your information and I am assuming the Nigeria health services will take a turn for the better,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor said that the MLS students have made a remarkable accomplishment in the MLS department.

Prof Aluyor also thanked the State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for the provision of world class facilities in the university and also acknowledged the multi million Naira molecular laboratory donated by the Chancellor, Dr Aderemi Makanjuola.
