Contractors to commence remodelling of Jahun College

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has vowed to give College Of Health, Science and Technology Jahun with a befitting outlook as renovation works will soon commence towards the provision of the Institution and supply much needed working facilities, infrastructures which includes the erection of two additional lecture halls and befitting student hostels for both male and females, among other needed facilities approved by the National Board For Technical Education Board ( NBTE) since most of the required accredited facilities needed for the College were captured in this year’s budget, the Institution’s Acting College Provost, Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar has stated.

Briefing newsmen in his office, Dr. Abubskar further disclosed that the status of the Jahun School of Health Technology came into existence last year through an approved enabling law by members of the Jigawa state House of Assembly elevating the status of Jahun School of Health Technology to Jahun College of Health, Science and Technology on the approval and recommendations of both Jigawa state government, the NBTE, among other National Health Bodies having certified with its mode of teaching requirements, expertise and professionalism of the College tutors.

Under the new development the Institution now has five Schools under it namely, School of Health Sciences which comprise of three different departments namely Dental, Health Sciences, and Laboratories; The School of Health Information Management which deals with Medical Records Department, Health Information, among others; and The School of Environmental Health which offers Diploma and HND in Environmental Health Sciences, Public Health, etc.

Other Schools are School.of Community Health and General Studies which dealt with Basic Sciences, among other Science related Programmes; and General practices of Community Health Education and alikes.

Least amongst the needed facilities expected to be injected in the Jahun Health Institution include the erection of two additional male and female hostels, medical laboratories, theatre halls, recruitment of qualified medical personnel and tutors in arresting shortage of manpower, landscaping, tiring of laterite in the College premises, renovation of the College gate, and enhancement of security in the College environment, among others.

On the shortage of manpower, Dr. Abubakar said, “At the moment the College is faced with a little shortage of qualified and professional tutors to man most of the College units. Their acceptance or recruitment will be based on the approved NBTE’s score mark of their professionalism before getting employment.

“We are in dire need of additional staff quarters and a befitting administrative block per recommendations of the National Board For Technical Board approval for our Collage upgrade.

“We were told that in a couple of weeks, a team of Engineers are visiting our College to carry out physical assessment fittings to attach our College renovations,” he averred.

He commended Governor Namadi in his quest to give the Jahun College Of Health, Science, and Technology a new outlook.

Similarly, Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar called on both the students and College lecturers to be punctual, dedicated in their studies, and work to improve quality service delivery in attainment of excellent character.
