Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Creativity, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, has tasked Benue athletes at the ongoing National Youth Games in Delta State to maintain discipline in their conduct throughout the period of the games.

The Commissioner who gave the charge while addressing the athletes and officials in their camp at Anglican Grammar Secondary School, Asaba, urged the athletes to avoid unnecessary movements, pay adequate attention to the instructions of their officials, and report challenges to the necessary officer for the needed attention.

He said Governor Hyacinth Alia was committed to their success in sports, evident in his prompt approval of funds for their welfare and participation in the Youth Games and fixing of facilities back in the state, assuring them that he would be with them all through the games to give them the needed backing and intervention where necessary.

Speaking, Director of Sports, Doctor Philip Nongu, assured them that adequate arrangements were in place to sustain their welfare throughout their stay in Asaba and commended those who have won medals while encouraging those still in a contest to remain focused and fight for podium appearance.

Benue State has so far won five medals, comprising three silver and two bronze, and is still competing in other events, including Ayo, Chess, Dart, Golf, Kung Fu, and Para Athletics.
