Climate change: Ojokoro LCDA set to end emission reduction
…Charges people on strategic waste disposal
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) has hit the ground running for Emission Reduction (Net-Zero) to Mitigate Climate Change in the LCDA and its environs as he partners with Centre for 21st Century Issues in sensitizing the people on possible environmental hazards and ways to mitigate them.
In his address, he made it known that these had put a lot of threat to the existence of the people thus the urgent need to address them.
“Livelihood has been threatened and competition for scarce resources triggered by changing climate will put millions of children and vulnerable households at increased risk of violence. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to climate change due to pre-existing gender inequalities and social norms with 45 million people worldwide currently at extreme risk of famine,” HID Tijani said.
The Executive Director, Centre for 21st Century Issues; Mrs. Titi Akossa further commended the council boss for his previous effort in the area of environmental management most especially during his international trips to ensure the council is free of environmental issues.
The Council Boss has further promised the provision of organic waste disposal centre for the benefit of the constituency which will commence soonest.
Present at the event is community leaders, major stakeholders, the Permanent Secretary; Office of Environmental Service, Dr. Tajudeen Omobolaji Gaji ably represented by Mr.Bankole Micheal; Director Climate Changes and Environmental Planning of the ministry. Members of the Executive arms of the council, Legislators, management members, and other top dignitaries.
