Cleric advocates unity, cautions Nigerians against divisive utterances

Pastor John Olanrewaju of Christ the King Church, Ilorin, warned on Saturday in Ilorin that Nigerians should stop uttering divisive statements and prioritise the country’s unity.

Speaking with reporters, he said “Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable.’’

He noted that many prominent Nigerians and leaders were not mindful of their utterances.

“Enough of negative pronunciation against the country’s unity. We need to caution ourselves and be positive in our manners.

“Stop calling for war. Nigeria’s unity should be the main priority of all citizens.

“I am calling on stakeholders, religious leaders,  journalists, traditional rulers and the public to refrain from uttering divisive statements and preach unity across the country,’’ he said.

Olanrewaju urged Nigerians to look beyond religious and ethnic differences and show love for one another.
