Citizens must treat government’s property as theirs — Isolo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Olasoju

In this interview with Florence Ayoola, the Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Bayo Olasoju, reeled out some of his achievements in the past one year. Excerpts:

Can we know your name and some of your achievements within the last one year?

My name is Hon. Bayo Olasoju Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). I thank God for 365 days in office. I have executed, rehabilitated, and constructed 21 roads, and seven are still ongoing. I have started the administrative block and the Supervisory Councillor’s block. We have started a Health Center. And we have done bursary, scholarships, care for the elderly ones, among others.

What are some of the challenges you’ve experienced in office?

One of the challenges I have encountered in the past one year is that people do not take government’s properties as theirs. Secondly, people are mostly misinformed by what they see on social media. Three, we have to really educate and interface with our people. What they need to understand naturally is our basic challenges.

What do you hope to achieve in the coming years?

For me, I will say I came in prepared. You know, I was born, raised and I still live in this community. So I understand what people want and how to go about it. Secondly, I have been in the council system for quite sometime. So, I understand and I know the limitations of last regime and this regime, and how to go about working on those limitations. So it’s about being prepared and doing it well. The key projects I plan to execute border on health, environment, infrastructure, education, and poverty eradication.
