CIPSMN elects new executive in Rivers

The Rivers State Chapter of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN) has advised its newly elected executive to ensure that intending procurement agents are trained and certified.

The CIPSMN Rivers State Chapter newly elected Chairman, Mrs Alaba Botoye, gave the charge on assumption of duty on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

She noted that the Institute since inception in 1998 had remained committed to the pursuit of enhancing professional proficiency and had also impacted positively on the procurement subsector of the nation’s economy.

According to her, the Institute has over the years enhanced service delivery through knowledge-based orientation on procurement policies.

“Established in 1998 under Decree 1 of 1990, Part C, CIPSMN is charged with the responsibility of training, regulation and certification for intending Procurement Professionals in Nigeria,” she said.

Commending the body for a successful election, which enthroned the new executive of the chapter, Botoye said that her administration would strive towards sustaining the core mandate of the Institute.

The new Rivers CIPSMN boss, on behalf of the new executive, thanked the body for an opportunity to serve, while also promising to uphold the ethics and show diligence in their duties.

“It is our desire to work towards effective implementation of our programme contents which are basically initiated to educate professionals on the intricacies of our national procurement policies in line with global standard,” she added.

Our correspondent who covered the event,reported that the Rivers CIPSMN on July 31, during its congress inaugurated a State Executive after a successful election.

The new executive committee is chaired by Mrs Alaba Botoye, Bamson Tamunene — Vice Chairman and Oliver Ege –Treasurer.

Others are Tamunotonye Hart — Secretary,  Mrs Chioma Agu — Financial Secretary, Anulika Ugboma – Assistant Secretary Tola Ogunlana-Publicity Secretary and Ikechukwu Okogbuo, Auditor.
