Christmas: Southern Senators’ Forum tasks Nigerians on peace
Southern Senators’ Forum has appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace in order to move the country forward, even in the face of economic challenges, occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the forum, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti), made the appeal in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
He urged all Nigerians to embrace peace, as there would never be tangible development in an environment where there was rancour.
Bamidele, an APC governorship aspirant in Ekiti, added that the current problem facing the country would soon be a thing of the past, if Nigerians embraced peace which Jesus Christ personified.
“As we are celebrating Christmas, I implore all Nigerians to embrace peace by all means, because there can never be development in an environment where there is rancor.
“The current insecurity in the country will soon be a thing of the past, if we embrace the teaching of Jesus Christ.
“He (Christ) came and preached peace to us who were far away and to those who were near. Through Him, we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
“Therefore, Christmas should be an avenue to propagate the love of Christ across the nooks and crannies of this nation so that we can move forward, just as His birth brings about transformation to history of mankind,” he said.
