Christmas: PRP felicitates with Nigerians, preaches peaceful coexistence
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has congratulated the Christian community in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration.
The party’s Acting Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Mr Muhammed Ishaq, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said that Christmas mark the birthday of Jesus Christ and is an immensely joyous occasion celebrated with great ardour the world over.
“It is a memorable moment for exchanging the light of love, peace, tolerance and happiness.
“PRP uses this medium to call on all Nigerians to continue co-existing peacefully and in harmony. It is only on the foundation of peace and unity that Nigerians can experience genuine and collective happiness.
“We pray that may this year’s Christmas bring true liberation to our nation.
“May true peace reign in our nation. May our country be freed from all forms of ills that bedevil our dear nation.”
Good governance: Nasarawa D/Speaker tasks citizens on PVCs.
The Deputy Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Nehemiah Dandaura, has called on Nigerians yet to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) from INEC to do so in order to elect candidates of their choice in 2023.
Dandaira made the call in his Christmas message during a Christmas Service at King’s Summit Church, Akwanga on Sunday.
He described the PVC as the only weapon that electorate can use to vote leaders of their choice.
“And to have a say in governance and contribute to the political destiny of the nation.
“I want to use this medium to call on the people of my constituency and other Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing PVCs distribution by INEC to obtain their PVCs.
“As without PVCs, eligible voters will not be able to vote in the election,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker also urged his constituents to use the Christmas period to pray for unity, peace and development of the state and the country at large.
“My Christmas message first is for us to remain grateful to God Almighty for making us to see a day like this.
“We thank God that we are celebrating the Christmas in peace and love not like before where there are attacks, casualties and crisis during the Christmas in few years back,” he added.
Dandaura congratulated Christians on the peaceful celebration of Christmas and wished them a prosperous New Year.
Besides, the legislator called on politicians and other stakeholders to play politics by its rules in the interest of unity, peace and progress.
Also Speaking, the former Majority Leader and present Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission,Mr Peter Mbucho congratulated Christians on this year’s peaceful Christmas celebration.
He also called on the people to collect their PVCs to exercise their rights in 2023.
The former majority leader called on politicians to adhere to the rules of the game ahead of 2023 general election.
On his Part, Rev. Jonathan Thani, the Provost, College of Education, Akwanga, admonished Christians and other Nigerians to ensure that the birth of Jesus did not go in vain by sustaining the teaching of Christ.
The provost urged the people to adhere strictly to the teaching of Jesus Christ which centred on love, peace, sacrifice and tolerance among other good attributes.
Earlier, Pastor Best Barau, while presiding over the Christmas Service, urged Nigerians to always stand by the truth for societal development.
He added that if Christians tell the truth at all times, no matter the bitterness, it would not only promote peace in the society but would promote development.
The clergy also enjoined Christians and other Nigerians to secure the church and their communities.
