Christmas: Lawmaker doles out cash, bags of rice to 863 Kaduna residents

By Austine Emmanuel, Kaduna

House Committee Chairman on Sports and Member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna under the platform of the Labour Party, (LP) Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, has distributed food items and cash to no less than 863 constituent members in Kaduna to mark the 2023 Christmas celebration.

The gesture according to him is aimed to support individuals across board regardless of political affiliation, religion and other differences to celebrate the Christmas season with their family, friends and loved ones without lack.

Ekene also stressed that the gesture is in line with his campaign promises to run an inclusive government where leaders and the people sit together to deliberate on issues of importance as panacea to bring sustainable growth and development to the people at the grassroots level.

The Lawmaker emphasised that his position as Federal House of Representatives member is attributed to divine providence, not personal prowess and urged that people shun politics of bitterness and come together to form a formidable team to move the constituency and by extension Kaduna State to the desired destination.

“I am not a politician; my word is my bond. God granted me this position to serve, and I will continue to do so as long as I am alive,” Adams vowed.

Touching on the forthcoming State House of Assembly election, Ekene expressed regret over the untimely demise of Hon. Madami Garba Madami, who represented Chikun Local Government Area at the State Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said that he envisioned collaboration with Madami before his demise, despite their difference in political parties and ideology for the sake of peace and tolerance in the quest for a working system in the constituency.

He urged the people to choose candidate who embraces unity and not someone that will divide the people along religious and ethnic lines.

“I wish honourable Garba Madami was alive. We could have collaborated to elevate this constituency. His inclusive approach, free from sentiments, would have contributed significantly. It’s unfortunate that he never had the chance to assume office before his demise,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the gift items include Ward Chairmen and Executive members, cutting across the three major political parties, the All Progressives Congress, PDP, and LP respectively, including Gbagyi Villa women.
