Christmas: Care for the sick, physically challenged, says Plateau speaker

The Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda, has urged citizens to be kind, show love and care to the sick and physically-challenged persons during the Christmas celebration.
Sanda, in his goodwill message, made available to the newsmen on Saturday, said that Christmas is a season of joyous sharing with friends and families, and caring for the less privileged.
The speaker stated that the true essence of the celebration rooted in the birth of Christ and celebrated world wide, is love in action.
“As we celebrate, let us do so with kindness, showing love and care for one another, particularly the sick, physically-challenged persons, the aged and homeless amongst us.
“Let us as families, come together to reflect on years past and to put our prayers and hope towards a better 2023.
“The year 2022 has been a difficult year for most families and even the government.
“However, we have worked very hard and in many instances, we have overcome and we have been successful with the goals we have set for ourselves,” he said.
Sanda thanked Plateau citizens, who through difficult times, provided moral support and prayers to the leadership of the various arms of government.
The speaker expressed confidence that the people would overcome the present challenges as a people united in love.
“As legislators, we are not unmindful of the security challenges and economic hardship faced by the people.
“We are, however, committed to continue to uphold and promote people-oriented legislation that will be anchored on peace, unity and economic development of the state.
“We will continue to work closely with the executive and judiciary to stand with the people at their moments of difficulties and providing for them a platform to believe in themselves and the Plateau project.
“It is our belief that 2023 will usher in a more robust legislative agenda that will reflect more on the yearnings and aspirations of the people,” he added.
He further said that “the 2023 general election is an election that will define our history as a nation and people of Plateau.”
Sanda stated that he is confident that God would be a big factor in the election if the people would allow him to step in.
The speaker cautioned the people against careless and irresponsible promotion of hate, falsehood, fear and agitation.
