Seven hundred and twenty operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to provide security in Gombe State during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Waziri Goni, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, in a statement made available by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Saad Buhari, explained that the deployment of the personnel was part of efforts to curb insecurity that usually accompanies the festive period in the state.
According to the statement, “The Command has emplaced a robust security arrangement and crime prevention strategies as directed by the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to ensure a crime-free celebration in the state with over 720 personnel to provide security.”
The Commandant called on the members of the public to be security conscious and provide useful information to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other agencies.
