Chrisland University matriculates 300 students, warns against immoral acts
Chrisland University, Abeokuta, on Thursday matriculated 300 students for 2020/2021 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Babalola, in her address at the event — the 6th matriculation ceremony of the institution — urged the students to shun any form of hooliganism, cultism and corruption.
Babalola appealed to them to take their studies seriously and show respect to their colleagues and staff in the university, to make their stay fruitful and productive.
She counselled the students on modesty and decency in the way they dress and approach issues, reminding them that the university is not just about learning but also about character.
“I applaud the parents and guardians for choosing Chrisland University.
“I admire the way you came personally for the interviews and how you cooperated with us. Recall that you signed and agreed with your children to abide by the rules and regulations.
“Please keep up with it and support the university in molding the students to be the best they can be. The student handbook is there as a guide,” she said.
According to her, the university, this session, is matriculating as phase one, 300 students.
“Admission is still ongoing until June 2021 in accordance with JAMB directives so the window admission is still open.
“This number is more than double of last year (124). The 2020/2021 session has been tagged a Purpose Driven Session.This provides opportunity for personal and institutional growth and development.
“It is a season of new invention, new strategies and new technologies. This is a season of blended learning (virtual and physical).
“I am proud to inform you that at Chrisland University, we hold the view that positive opportunity lies in every crisis or challenge, hence, our drive for new strategies in dealing with our current challenges,” she said.
The vice chancellor hinted that the university had attracted some experts in the past few months, and would be setting up other centres such as centre for Distance Education for top-up programmes and a Forensic centre for Crime detection.
She implored parents and guardians to partner with the institution in its vision to keep its legacy alive by investing in it.
Dr Gbenga Adeoye, a Chartered Accountant, the Guest Speaker, urged the students to imbibe good character.
He said that hard work, preparation and continuous learning would pave way for success.
