China issues safety warning to its citizens in UK

On Wednesday, China advised its citizens to exercise heightened caution when visiting the United Kingdom due to ongoing right-wing extremist riots. The Chinese diplomatic mission in London recommended that Chinese travelers avoid areas affected by the unrest and stay vigilant about the security situation.

Riots have erupted in several English cities over the past week, primarily driven by right-wing extremists who have clashed with police and targeted Muslims and asylum seekers. These tensions have been exacerbated by misinformation on social media regarding a knife attack in Southport.

A 17-year-old suspect, who attacked three girls and injured others on July 29, was incorrectly reported as a Muslim migrant. Police have clarified that the suspect is a UK-born individual of Rwandan descent.

China is not alone in issuing travel warnings; the Indian High Commissioner in London has advised visitors to remain alert, while Australia has suggested avoiding protest areas due to potential violence. Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UAE have also issued similar warnings. However, Germany has not updated its travel advisories in response to the riots.
