Chairmanship aspirant home, properties destroyed

…One killed, vehicles burnt

Property worth millions of Naira belonging to Hon. Emmanuel Pelumi Adeooju, a local government chairmanship aspirant, was razed by suspected political thugs on Tuesday, 20th February, 2024. The properties which included an office complex, a private residence at Elewuro area and auto shop at Iwo Road, Ibadan were all destroyed simultaneously in what appeared to be a well coordinated attack by the hoodlums. Several vehicles which were meant for sale were completely burnt.

One of Hon. Adepoju’s drivers lost his life in the attack, while some of his other workers who spoke with our reporters said that the assailants threatened to kill their principal whenever he returns from Canada where he is on a short visit with his wife.

Hon Adepoju’s two daughters who were not in the residence during the attack are said to be hiding with some of his family members.

It will be recalled that Hon Adepoju contested in the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming chairmanship election for Iseyin Local Government, but lost in what many alleged to be an election full of irregularities.
