Rep. Muhammad Ali-Wudil (APC-Kano) has trained and empowered 100 female orphans in his constituency.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the graduation ceremony on Sunday in Wudil Local Government, the lawmaker said that he extended the gesture to the orphans to reduce poverty, redundancy, and unemployment in the area.
Ali-Wudil, representing Wudil/Garko federal constituency, said that the female orphans were trained on soap making, catering, make-up, tailoring among others, to make them self-productive and reduce poverty.
According to the lawmaker, he facilitated the grant given to the beneficiaries through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) cash grant for vulnerabe.
He added that the beneficiaries were selected across Wudil and Garko Local Government Areas of the state.
“I remember I was here for the graduation of some beneficiaries sponsored by this centre, on that day I made a promise to also sponsor some constituents.
“Thanks be to Almighty God, today has become a memorable day for us, because we have fulfilled the promise we made.”
He also appealed to other politicians, wealthy individuals and philanthropists to also empower youths and women.
The former Executive Director, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr Mansur Adamu-kazaure, commended the gesture, and called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity.
Alhaji Sani Auwalu, the Vice Chairman Garko LGA said that providing such orphans with skills and grant would make them self-reliant.
He promised to continue to give the lawmaker all the necessary support deserved towards assisting the less privileged in his constituency.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with the Newsmen, commended Wudil for the gesture and promised to make the best of the training and share knowledge with others.
