CBN calls on South East states to embrace economic intervention programmes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged people of the South East to embrace its intervention programmes to grow their businesses.
Speaking to the journalists shortly after the opening ceremony of CBN Fair in Enugu on Tuesday, the Ag Director, Cooperate Communication Department, Osita Nwanisiobi, lamented over the low participants of South East Consumers on its intervention programmes expressed the determination of the apex bank to continue to sensitize the public on all policies and its interventions.
He enjoined the citizens of the region to leverage on CBN intervention programs, assuring that CBN will continue to promote financial and stability for the economic development of the nation.
On the low impact of CBN intervention programme in South East, Nwanisiobi said the essence of organizing the fair is to sensitize the general public on its interventions, as well as how they can leverage on it because “We notice there is a low participation in embracing the intervention in South East.”
According to him, we are coming out so aggressively to talk to them because these interventions are real and people have been able to grow their business through these interventions, as well as those in agriculture who have to use it also to grow their commodities.
“These interventions are there for people to take advantage of what Central Bank provided for them as we have about 37 interventions in CBN that people can leverage on to grow their business. These interventions are unique on their own and their requirement is different.
“All our interventions are real and working perfectly as the CBN Governor is passionate about these interventions so you can come over and take advantage of these intervention programmes without knowing anybody,” he said.
Nwanisiobi, therefore, called on stakeholders to join CBN in sensitizing the people of South East on the need for them to come to CBN and take advantage of the intervention programmes saying, “it’s for everybody so anybody can walk into any CBN branch and access these facilities.
“All hands must be on deck on sensitizing our people on these intervention programmes to enable them leverage on it,” he said.
In his address, Mathew Idu Enugu State Commissioner of Agriculture stressed the need to domesticate local production in order to boost the economy.
He assured the determination of state government to always partner with the CBN in boosting the economy.
