Cattle herder appeals for security after life threats, property destruction

Mr. Fulani Olarewaju Ibrahim, a cattle herder and an indigene of Gaa Oro Ago, Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, has raised the alarm over threats to his life and the destruction of his property.

According to Mr. Ibrahim, on August 10, 2022, at about 1:30 pm, a group of herdsmen and hoodlums invaded his shed in Gaa Oro Ago, Oke-Ode. The attackers destroyed his shed, killed several of his cows, and set the entire shed ablaze. He was physically assaulted, tied up, and severely wounded to the point where he lost consciousness and lay in a pool of his own blood.

Fortunately, neighbors and good Samaritans came to his rescue and rushed him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. He remained unconscious for over two hours and only regained consciousness the following day. Medical personnel informed him that he had been in a coma due to the severity of his injuries.

Upon being discharged from the hospital, Mr. Ibrahim reported the incident to the nearest police station on August 18, 2022, where he gave a formal statement. The police assured him that efforts were underway to track down the perpetrators.

However, after reporting the case, Mr. Ibrahim began receiving numerous threatening phone calls and messages from unknown individuals. Fearing for his life and the safety of his family, he was forced to flee his home with his family to an undisclosed location.

Mr. Ibrahim has now appealed to security agencies to come to his aid, stating that his life and those of his family members are in grave danger. He calls on the authorities to ensure that justice is served and that those responsible for the attack are brought to book.
