Catholic priest abducted in Taraba State

The Catholic Diocese of Wukari has confirmed the abduction of one of its priests. The priest whose name was given as Rev. Father, Thaddeus Tarhembe, was said to have been abducted in the early hours of Sunday.

His abduction is coming barely two days after four persons were abducted in Pupule village of Yorro local government council.

Confirming the abduction via a statement made available to journalists in the state, the Director of Communication, Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Rev. Fr. John Jerome Laikei, said the priest was abducted at the Rev. Father’s rectory of St. Ann’s Parish, Sarkin Kudu, by yet to be identified armed men.

The abducted cleric, according to the statement, is a priest of St. Ann’s Parish, Sarkin Kudu, Ibi local government area of Taraba State.

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Taraba State chapter, it would be recalled, recently raised the alarm over the abduction of Christian clerics in the state.
