Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has hailed goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, describing him as ‘world class’ after his impressive display for the Reds in their Carabao Cup final 1-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Liverpool defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium, thanks to Van Dijk’s second half extra-time header.
However, Kelleher was one of the star performers for Jurgen Klopp’s side as he made a number of top saves to keep the game goalless until Van Dijk headed home after 118 minutes.
“I’m probably one of his biggest fans, I think,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports.
“I have always said he is world class and he stepped up today again.
“It’s good to see, he is a good boy, good goalkeeper, that is what we need at a club like Liverpool.”
