A car wash attendant named Mohammed has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Isheri, Lagos.
Mohammed had been entrusted with a Toyota Camry for cleaning but absconded with the vehicle.
The Lagos State Police Command released a statement on Tuesday confirming the arrest and disclosing that Mohammed had removed the car’s number plate and any other identifying information.
The statement further stated that the case would be taken to court once the investigation is completed.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect had vanished with the car just three days after being employed at the car wash.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle had been handed over to the suspect merely three hours before by the owner, who had plans for a family outing later in the afternoon,” Hundeyin added.
He further noted that Muhammed, during his escape, removed the car’s number plate and disposed of any items connecting the vehicle to its owner upon arriving in Agege.
The case is expected to be taken to court following a thorough investigation.
