Capacity building: Maritime Academy, Oron, MUN collaborate on training

In continuation and in furtherance of collaborative efforts and understanding between the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) and Maritime University Nigeria (MUN), Okerenkoko, Delta State, students of the MUN have undergone and will continue to undergo  training at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN).

Speaking with journalists, Rector of the Academy, Cdre. Duja Emmanuel Effedua  (rtd), disclosed that the collaboration between MAN and MUN has been of great reward to both institutions and country.

According to Effedua, “This is the third batch of students of MUN that we have trained at the Academy. They came to do Mandatory short courses at the Academy on the  International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and become compliant.

“This course for the 3rd batch was concluded on February 20, 2023. Prior to this students and lecturers of MUN have visited the Academy to familiarize and take advantage of the modern training equipment available at the Academy.

“As we will continue to say and emphasize, the Academy is a national training institution for all Nigerians. Private and Public sector operators are welcome to the Academy to train, develop and update themselves and grow in their professional careers.

“I insist that any Nigerian going outside the country for any kind of training is wasting his time and money. The Academy has the capacity to provide training for all cadres of maritime and Oil and Gas professionals.”

Recall that the Effedua led management of MAN has procured modern Simulators and other sophisticated training equipment and installed them for training purposes at the Academy thus enhancing the ranking of MAN as a certified, highly ranked Maritime Academy in the world.
