CAF confirms Enyimba for inaugural African Football League
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Enyimba among the eight clubs that will participate in the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL).
The AFL is a partnership between CAF and Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
The eight teams were selected from three African Regional Blocks: the North Region, the Central-West Region and the South-East Region.
Reigning African champions Al Ahly of Egypt, Tunisia’s Esperance and Raja Casablanca of Morocco were picked from the North Region.
From the Central-West Region are Enyimba and TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Angola’s Atlético Petróleos de Luanda and Tanzania’s Simba Sports Club are selected from the South-East Region.
The draw for the competition will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on September 2.
The competition, which will run for four weeks, will start on October 20 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
