CAC a point of success — DG, BPSR
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has been described as a point of success in the Nigerian public service and fast approaching world class status in view of its reform initiatives.
The Director General Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi who stated this during advocacy visit to the Commission noted with delight that the CAC was implementing far reaching reforms to stimulate growth in the Nigerian economy.
Dasuki Arabi who maintained that the task of transforming the public service was herculean, applauded the CAC for being frequently responsive to its enquiries and guidance.
While speaking on the efforts being made to reform the Nigerian Public service in the last 20 years, the DG BPSR said their ultimate vision was to ensure that by the year 2025, Nigeria ranks amongst the 20 best public service in the world.
To achieve that, Arabi said the BPRS developed a Self Assessment Tool (SAT) which was used to monitor and assess performance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government with a view to enhance performance.
He revealed that the public service reforms implemented by Nigeria such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), have elicited interest from some African countries who visited Nigeria to study its journey and experience with such reforms.
The Registrar General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, in his response highlighted some major reform initiatives being implemented by the CAC following the Gazette of CAMA, 2020.
He noted with keen interest the self assessment tool SAT developed by the BPSR which he said the CAC will leverage on to enhance its performance despite the deployment of both internal and external Quality Management System (QMS).
Speaking on the Open Government Partnership principle, the RG said access to data of those that control corporate entities was given to interested members of the public free of charge in line with global best practices and in tune with the fight against corruption and terrorism financing amongst others.
