Butcher stabs wife to death in Adamawa
A butcher in Adamawa State has killed his wife with a knife.
The suspect, 33-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar, had accused his wife, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, of taking his phone before he stabbed her to death.
The state police command said the suspect, who resides in the Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area stabbed the deceased around her back repeatedly.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday, April 8, about 4:30 am when he accused her of taking away his phone, an accusation which led to a minor argument.
Confirming the incident Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the butcher stabbed his wife and left her in a pool of blood.
Nguroje explained that the suspect was arrested after a report to the police by the father of the deceased.
He added that preliminary investigation had led to the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime which the suspect had used in perpetrating the crime.
He said the suspect had voluntarily confessed his act and expressed the regret of having killed his wife and mother of their only child.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident, assured that the command will diligently prosecute the culprit,” Nguroje said.
